SyncThink Partners with Pico Interactive and Tobii for Next Generation Virtual Reality Solution

Partnership combines SyncThink’s market-leading brain health and performance technology with the latest innovation in integrated VR technology to meet expanding healthcare demand

Palo Alto and Boston – April 5, 2021— SyncThink, a next gen neurotechnology company and developer of the award-winning EYE-SYNC technology, announces today it has partnered with Tobii,  the world leader in eye tracking, and Pico Interactive, a global technology company that develops innovative VR and enterprise solutions. The company will provide EYE-SYNC on the Pico Neo 2 Eye, which was recently named one of TIME’s best inventions of 2020.

“Tobii has over 15 years of expertise powering healthcare with eye tracking solutions. We are excited to see SyncThink bringing EYE-SYNC to the next level by leveraging Tobii eye tracking in the Pico Neo 2 Eye headset and including Tobii Ocumen, our premium solution that enables more capabilities in advanced VR applications” says Johan Hellqvist, Head of XR at Tobii. “With eye tracking becoming a foundational technology for VR/AR, we are committed to catalyzing the commercialization of healthcare innovations.”

“We have seen how virtual reality has had a monumental impact on the healthcare industry thanks to partners like SyncThink and we’re excited to be a part of this.” said Mika Cavanaugh, West Coast Account Director at Pico Interactive. “We think our VR platform, combined with their EYE-SYNC technology, will help accelerate access to advanced neurological care, allowing clinicians to provide highly precise diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, while improving patient care and outcomes.”

The Neo 2 Eye, with built-in Tobii eye tracking, enables EYE-SYNC to provide an improved patient experience, by leveraging the features of a 4K display, foveated rendering powered by Tobii Spotlight Technology, and comfortable ergonomic design. Clinicians will also benefit from the high frame rate, quick and easy setup and an enhanced design to support patient care in today’s environment. SyncThink will begin deploying Neo 2 Eye headsets this month, including offering upgrade pathways for existing customers.

“This is a significant step forward for our company and the marketplace as we forge a new standard of care,” said Scott Anderson, Chief Clinical Officer of SyncThink. “Partnering with Pico and Tobii for this all-in-one solution allows SyncThink to deliver an improved software and analytic platform to our existing and future customers.”

The EYE-SYNC technology is a pioneering brain health and performance platform that provides objective data and insights into the type and severity of various neurological conditions. It combines proprietary software and data analytics with high performance eye tracking sensors to measure and quantify eye movement biomarkers reflective of impairment or disease. The EYE-SYNC technology received FDA approval in 2016, and in 2019 received FDA breakthrough device designation for aid in concussion assessment. It is currently used by healthcare providers in hospitals and rehabilitation centers, sports, military, and in CNS drug development around the world.
